The Gradual Disappearance Of Flash Websites

Smashing Magazine did a wonderful job in the article below, writing up the trends and present and future of the web, the web browser and their technologies. The real gem though is the list of examples below the article that demonstrate various web sites, portfolios, and JavaScript library implementations to show off what is already being done out there on the web. Despite its title, “The Gradual Disappearance Of Flash Websites,” it’s more about web implementation and accessibility. Like the author, I acknowledge that Flash has its place in the web, but the more I read, play and use jQuery, CSS3 and HTML5, the more I see ways open ways to get the job done. Like I was talking to my friend, Bret. Flash, HTML, CSS, JavaScript libraries and other technologies are all tools. In the right hands, you can get to the finish with a combination of any of the tools. I argue, keep ’em all alive. Keep them all in use. The more technologies, the more competition. The more competition, the more innovation.
