AC/DCThe current AC/DC “Rock or Bust” Tour almost did go bust. With recent news that AC/DC lead singer/front man, Brian Johnson is at a risk of permanently losing his hearing, AC/DC announced Saturday plans to conclude their European tour with another famous front man — Axl Rose.

The tragedy of Johnson’s health is sad, and it will be interesting in the future to get his whole story on what exactly happened, and what he plans to do going forward. Regardless, it does not sound like Johnson’s future involves AC/DC at all.

At what is likely a pure business decision to keep tickets from being refunded en masse, Guns N Roses singer/frontman Axl Rose will sing for AC/DC’s remaining 12 dates in Europe.

On the band’s offcial site, they made the following statement:

“AC/DC band members would like to thank Brian Johnson for his contributions and dedication to the band throughout the years. We wish him all the best with his hearing issues and future ventures. As much as we want this tour to end as it started, we understand, respect and support Brian’s decision to stop touring and save his hearing. We are dedicated to fulfilling the remainder of our touring commitments to everyone that has supported us over the years, and are fortunate that Axl Rose has kindly offered his support to help us fulfill this commitment. AC/DC will resume their Rock Or Bust World Tour with Axl Rose joining on vocals. The European stadium tour dates begin on May 7 in Lisbon, Portugal and run through June 12 in Aarhus, Denmark as previously announced.”

The band’s site went on to say Rose would then return to his own band, Guns N Roses who have their own touring about to commence. Guns N Roses just kicked off their own tour in Las Vegas, that brings Slash and Duff back to the band for the first time in years. Additionally, Rose has his own health issues to tend to, breaking his leg prior to the Vegas pair of dates. AC/DC also said the 10 United States dates that were postponed would also be rescheduled and would feature Axl Rose.

Rose performed the Vegas shows from a throne borrowed from Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl after he broke his leg. There’s been no word yet on how mobile Rose will be by the May 7 Lsbon, Portugal AC/DC show.

Regardless, I can’t wait to see and hear the videos coming out of the remainder of this AC/DC tour. It will be interesting to see how Axl does all of the AC/DC hits.

It will also be interesting to see who AC/DC bring on long-term after this tour concludes.
