Asleep on the ConsoleSorry for no post yesterday, and none of substance today. I don’t get sick often, but this attack of the flu is/was a doozey. I can’t remember feeling this crappy years! Anyway hopefully back to the grind and regular posting tomorrow.

So this past weekend, we upgraded Amanda’s smart phone to the iPhone 3G. While we’ve all read about the changes and upgrades the second iPhone offers, this was the first time I got to experience it first hand – my original versus Amanda’s 3G.

The two obvious features the 3G has over its predecessor are it’s faster cellular data network – AT&T’s faster 3G network versus its Edge. This makes a huge difference downloading files and web pages when not connected to a wifi network. But these speedier file transfers come at the price of battery drainage.

The 3G iPhone also includes a GPS for location-based services. This feature though also comes at the price of some battery life.

While these features are nice, most with the first generation aren’t going to jump up and down at anything that the 3G offers, the extra polish and things Apple learned from its first phone. Volume and sound quality are better from its built-in speaker. The headphone jack is no longer recessed, meaning any mini-jack headphones now work without an adapter.

The iPhone 3G is a great example of why it doesn’t pay to be an early adopter. This first hardware revision, while not a huge step forward, still has a lot of movement in the right direction – more polish and lots of minor revisions over the original iPhone.

Our Halloween CostumesMan, we packed a lot into this weekend and I had a an absolutely satisfying and fun weekend through and through!

We started the weekend with Friday night’s Halloween festivities. Amazingly, I got Amanda to dress up, and the results of that are pictured next to this. It was a lot of prep and setup – about an hour and half to get Amanda and I to look like that. I overestimated how much blue liquid latext it would take to cover our entire heads, so we have enough for three more pairs of blue men.. not sure that will ever happen though. We went out to our friends little intimate party out in Holly Springs and had fun hanging out, snacking and playing games.

So last night Ryan decided to give me a Christmas present a little early this year. We drove over to Crabtree Valley Mall and visited the Apple Store. While at the Apple Store, we picked up a iPhone 3G [in black]. I’m very excited. It’s a great phone and the functionality is better than that of my Nokia. So where I love Windows-based computers, I am loving my Apple iPhone.

What a generous husband I have…

First thing this morning, I was down in downtown Durham at the Durham Bulls Athletic Parl – not for a baseball game, but rather a charity ride to support Habitat for Humanity. My team, the Tri-Cyclists had 15 riders today and it was really cool, seeing that many of our jerseys riding through the 100 kilometer course (there was also a shorter route and a longer 100 miler).

After the ride, we all had lunch together at Tyler’s and it was a blast riding and hanging out with a bunch of the Trikes. It was also cool to have them riding closer to my neck of the woods, rather than the Chapel Hill areas we usually ride as a team.

Happy Halloween everyone! I’m looking forward to tonight’s costume party. We even got Amanda to dress up. We’ll have pics tomorrow for sure after my Habitat charity ride tomorrow morning.

In the spirit of Halloween, check out the video below. Sexy mustard!

Not cool! The season is right around the corner and 2008 national player of the year is an unknown for the season. I’m not really sure what a “stress reaction” is, but I’m hoping it’s something that can mend in time for ACC play after the new year rolls around.
