One of a local technology company's products is hitting the mainstream consumer market. Research Triangle Park's Cree, who specializes in solid state lighting products, now has one of their components featured on the Home Depot shelves (and web site). I love technology like this — looking to innovate in the spaces of energy efficiency, without compromising [...]
For all of you local racers, just wanted to post the details for this year's Carolina Cup, straight from race director, Dale Brown:
We are all excited about the 38th Annual CAROLINA CUP on Sunday September 12th in the Greensboro Country Park…
News:
- Through the initiative of event Sponsor Green Creations, for the start of the Pro cat [...]
So I've become a regular contributor over [...]
Check this out. This interactive map allows you to overlay the current mass nastiness that is the Gulf oil spill. Overlaying it locally over the Raleigh-Durham area, it'd also reach Winston-Salem, Fayetteville and up past Richmond. It really puts it in perspective. Overlaying over your local area really gives you an idea of the size of [...]
DurhamCares is mirroring the Race Across America event — riding stationary bikes for DurhamCares partners who are courageous enough to set and publish goals! It’s at the American Tobacco Complex from June 12 to June 19.
So far, I've signed up for a two hour block on the Tuesday Night, and I'd consider doing more if anyone [...]
The 6th Annual Ride of Silence is being held on Wednesday May 19th. Research Triangle Park's ride will start promptly at 7:00 p.m. from the Triangle Life Sciences Building – 86 TW Alexander Drive, RTP (Corner of Alexander and Hwy. 54). This ride is in memory of fallen cyclists and to promote bicycle safety [...]
Organically and slowly, it seems North Carolina's capital city is becoming more and more friendly to the two-wheeled riders on its street, though the article linked below is linking bike-friendly and bike lanes as virtually one and the same, which in some ways is true. If more government money is being used on projects for on-road [...]
I really really hope Amazon wins this suit. If my good ol' home state wins this lawsuit, it's bad news and an even worse precedent set for Internet eCommerce vendors. I'd like to add that I love our Amazon Prime account and really wouldn't like the State of North Carolina (or anyone else) to get [...]
I have ridden my share of road bikes, and a few different mountain bikes, but I've never ridden a time trial bike. All of my TT efforts have always been on either my Specialized Allez Comp steel frame with clip-on aerobars or my carbon fiber Specialized Tarmac Expert.
I'm interested in the future in doing more time trials, and maybe some duathlons down the road, and that's made me consider a TT-specific bike. I've got several saved searches/RSS feeds at the local Craig's List. In a perfect world with zero debt, being the Specialized fanboy I am, I'd love to get a Specialized Transition, but I've run into a bit of a stumbling block trying to test ride one.

This was rumored to be true yesterday. Now it's official. Back in 2004, the NHL Entry Draft was held at the RBC Center, but now the NHL has announced that Raleigh will host the NHL All-Star game in January 2011. Pretty cool. I just hope everyone coming into town for the game can figure out where [...]
