Nice tips, including several real easy tips to follow/implement.

Trick Yourself Thin

Have I mentioned how much I like the site/blog, Lifehacker? While not every article is relevant to me, I find so many of them right on with my lifestyle, interests, etc. Anyway, here’s another example of a great article they’ve put together about transforming your life from sedentary to more active.

Go from Couch Potato to Exercise Enthusiast with Diligence and Flexibility

These tips are generic enough that they work for cyclists, runners, etc. I’m such a wuss working out outside in the winter, but these are good tips. For me, the balance is finding the right amount of clothing and layers. My feet are always cold, and I don’t think it’s cause of too many layers, etc.

Cold Weather Training

So, we’ve decided in the New Year we’ll start back to our regimen of eating healthier, which in turn means cooking our own meals at home. This also means lowering our monthly expenses by a significant margin and thus, saving a little money for things we really want to do like travel, upgrading our hobbies (i.e. Ryan wants a new road bike) and work on projects around the house. This weekend we prepared all our meals at home, tried to keep spending to a minimum and had a very low-key weekend. Minimally watch the intro / summary videos. There are a lot of great soundbytes and ideas. The biggest “duh” idea is regarding the fact that research and prevention can save on the actual treating.

Now, the candidates need to follow through.

Cancer: The Issue All Candidates Should Be Running Against

Most everyone I know works in offices, sitting their entire work day. Then, they jump in their cars, sit in the driver’s seat to commute, and then site around for the remainder of the night. We’re all going to die!

Seriously though, the article makes a lot of sense. It’s a good goal. Walk when you can. Use the stairs when you can. Walk to the bank etc. It’s hard to get the amount of time sitting down, but there are easy ways to at least drop some sitting time down.
