So despite stressing and bit and worrying about everything and everyone showing up for John’s bachelor party last night, everything went off without a hitch. I think everyone had a good time, especially John, which is all that really matters.
I wanted the whole night to be a bit of a nostalgic trip from days past, back to our times at UNC, and time immediately after school so everything was focused around Chapel Hill.
John, Bill and I started at the DSI Comedy Theater in Carrboro for an improv comedy shows, along the lines of the ones John and I used to frequent on Franklin Street back in the day. It was pretty good and amusing, though as can be expected with improv, some of the bits worked better than others. I need to get Amanda and maybe some others out to a show in the coming months. Being a fan of “Whose Line Is it Anyway,” I think she’d enjoy it a bunch. Maybe Bret and Tina would enjoy as well.
After the comedy show, we heading down to Carolina Brewery for a few beers and some dinner. Two other guys joined up with us there and we had a good time eating and drinking. One of the other guys that joined up with us was JC, who brought a long a nice set of Energizer Bunny foam ears that John wore from then till the end of the night. They were a big hit and got John plenty of attention everywhere we went on Franklin Street.
We even got John 13 pecks on the cheek throughout the night from some very pretty girls. That was pretty cool – good ol’ Carolina girls! I was definitely glad that JC brought along the foam ears. They were a bit hit.
The rest of the night consisted of some bar hopping, with a couple of bar stops of beer, Bahama Mamas and a couple of Jello shots.
Then, capping off the night, we had a late night snack at the 24 hour greasy spoon – Timeout, though John’s stomach wasn’t in the right state for any of that. He stayed conscious throughout the night and powered through all the drinks we threw at him.
Luckily the rain held off the entire night till we were ending the night, walking back to the car. We got John dropped off safe and sound around 3am and I think I plopped into bed around 3:30.. way past my bedtime. I’m still tired from the late night.
I think John had a good time and got enough alcohol in his system to make it a successful bachelor party. Maybe he’ll post in the comments section. *hint* *hint* and tell us about what he does remember.

What are you talking about, Keefer? I don’t remember going to any of those places. I just remember you picking me up at my house and then … oh wait … now it’s all coming back to me, in a disjointed, blurred swirl of images
Saturday night was a lot of fun! Thanks Ryan, for pulling everything together. And thanks to everybody who came out for keeping me well-buzzed. And to the bartender at Top of the Hill who, in his words, made my drink “as gay as possible” (with five cherries and a parasol).
