Oh man. Spending some time in this place would bring back so many memories of the Arcades of years past. So those of you too young to remember, said place were a retail location found in most mall’s food court areas and in some strip malls. Children of the past would go to these establishments, and feed these machines quarters (or sometimes tokens) to play the best in the day’s graphic and sound based video games that ran circles around the home consoles of the day – the Atari 2600 and NES.
Anyway, the guy in the article linked below setup his own arcade for people to play in for free. There’s no admission, nor cost to play the games. He insists on people using his stash of quarters to play, but in turn asks you not to steal the quarters from the arcade. Pretty cool! I would think that it’d be easier if you just had all the games setup for free play, but I guess he attempting to make the experience as authentic as possible. The dude really needs to charge though.. if nothing more to help offset his power bill and the maintenance costs. I would hope that he would at least some corporate sponsors and/or donations to help out.
