Apple release a new firmware today for the iPhone (and iPod Touch). iTunes hasn’t picked up yet that there’s an update yet, but it can be downloaded directly. I’m going to wait till it shows up in iTunes in the next couple days, but the link above should placate anyone looking to get it ASAP.

I’ve got no fear of my phone being bricked, as I’m running a squeeky clean iPhone (no jailbreak or extra apps). Only thing I run is iToner, which I just downloaded today to put some extra ringtones on. Supposedly, it still works with 1.1.2.

Anyway, back to the Firmware update. Engadget gives a rundown of what’s new. Nothing ground breaking, other than I hope there is a speed increase like they’re talking about. My iPhone can be downright slow at times – especially in Mail and Safari.
