So Amanda and I have both been wanting to upgrade our camera for awhile. We had a nice quality point and shoot Canon camera that did a decent job, but we’ve both wanted to step it up to a digital SLR.

Well, a few days ago, we finally pulled the trigger, when we saw one of the models we were watching show up on one of the deal sites. Through Dell, of all places, we got a Canon Rebel XTi 10.1 megapixel camera (EOS 400D I believe) and it arrived today to me at work. We have barely scratched, the surface, but we’re already impressed.

Our old Canon point and shoot is great, and we won’t be getting rid of that little guy, but this new digital SLR is in a whole other league, especially when you compare pics from the two side-by-side. Just in the few shots we took tonight, the detail and clarity is awesome. While, I’m not discounting the skill of any photographer, it definitely does help to have the right tools for the job!

We took a little bit of time just to fool around with it, but it’s going to take some time to get adept as utilizing this bad boy to its fullest. We both have taken classes in photography, but it’s been many years for both of us. Hopefully, with time, some of that training will come back through using the camera, and reading up.
