So I’m really getting into this biking. I was really jealous when I pulled up to work and my co-worker David had ridden to work. We pulled out some maps and I looked up to see if the American Tobacco Trail was ever going to be a viable option for me to get to work. The answer is.. well maybe. The trail isn’t complete, but when it is, it will be 22+ miles and span from the Durham Bulls Athletic Park all the way past Apex, NC. The map of the proposed trails looks good, but there are a lot of dotted lines, which mean the trail is planned but not yet there. Basically, for it to be an option for me, the Tobacco Trail has to be completed and then a planned spur in Cary has to be done. I hope it happens. Obviously, I’ll have to do some test runs to see how long and how far it really is.
As it is though, I’ve loved having the bike and am so glad Amanda got the bikes for us. Mine was a steal and I feel our money’s worth has already been received from my bike. Time really flies when I ride on it and I love going from one end of the trail and back and a decent pace. It’s a good workout and it’s stretched out longer than anything at the gym or kickboxing. I’m loving it. I’m just afraid that come winter I am going to have major withdrawls!
Until then, I’m making the most out of it. We’re approaching having the bikes for a month and took them in last night for their one month tune up. Mine already needed new brake and derailer cables. We already got ‘em back and I was so tempted to try to get a ride in before the sun totally set, but there was too much other crap to do.
I’m so ready to try out some of the state/local park’s more rugged trails to see how I enjoy that. Maybe Sunday morning I can convince Amanda to head over to Lake Crabtree or Umstead.
