Man, Japan is over a decade ahead of U.S. scientists in this. That’s crazy. It’d be great to see this actually happen on one hand. On the other, we’ve all seen the sci-fi movies. :-P

Man, I could totally get used to these three day weekends! This week will be even short as Wednesday we’re heading up to Kings Dominion for a day of sun and roller coasters. Should be a great week!

I’d be highly surprised if 10.4.2 didn’t show up sooner than in 45 days. I like Tiger, but I have had some random lockups, though I credit the apps as being as much to blame as the OS itself. I guess though that in a way that is the OS as well, seeing as this PowerMac was running great with 10.3.9. Not a single hiccup then. Tiger and the apps running on it will be in the same boat soon.

This could get interesting — having an iPod Shuffle with the same capacity as the low end iPod Mini:

It would be nice though if an updated Shuffle had some sort of display, though the way that I utilize my Shuffle, it really isn’t neccesary at all. I’ve gotta say, these days my Shuffle gets a lot more usage than my 20GB iPod. I use it at the gym, when I’m running and on bike rides. Lately, my 20GB is only being utilized in the car — on the way home from work, and on longer trips.

Woo hoo! The setup downstairs on the living room DirecTiVo went almost as quick as the one up here in the den. The one downstairs completed the call and got the 6.2 update. It does seem zippier and the consolidation of programs into folders is cool.

Here’s more info on the 6.2 upgrade:

It looks like the one upstairs got the upgrade too! Good thing, as it was the slower of our two TiVos (a bit larger hard drive is part of the culprit there).

After something like 206 straight days of the Phillips DirecTiVo not completing a successful call, it made its first effortlessly tonight. Thanks to the instructions at TiVohelp.com, I was able to very easily setup my PC up here in the den to connect to my TiVo and complete a call via PPP. Now hopefully, I’ll be seeing the DirecTiVo 6.2 software update soon.

Tomorrow, I’ll be setting up the living room DirecTiVo to complete a call. Because of the neccessity of it needing an XP box nearby, the one downstairs will only occasionally make a call via PPP. Regardless, I’m psyched it worked with relative ease and hope the one downstairs goes just as smooth tomorrow when I set it up.

What a crazy old coot!
