I can’t remember the last summer (or nearly summer) where I haven’t made at least one trek up to Doswell, VA to visit good ol’ Kings Dominion.

Yesterday, Monica and I drove up there, and after the 8 hour drive to West Virginia, the trek to just North of Richmond was a piece of cake.

We ended up having a great day to be there and the lines weren’t long at all. The only ride we really waited for was the Volcano for close to an hour. Everything else was probably 10 minutes at the most.

The new coaster from last year, the Hypersonic XLC was closed as I suspected it would be. All the commericals I’ve heard on the radio don’t even mention it, and it’s downplayed on their Web site. There weren’t even any cars on the tracks (nor anyone working on it). I’m fearing this one-of-a-kind coaster might be doomed, ending up like the Sky Pilot.. where it spent more time being repaired than actually working. The Sky Pilot can now be seen to the left of the Anaconda when you are riding it and ascending the first hill. Man, I hope I’m wrong.
