There’s a huge new mall opening right down the street. The grand opening is tomorrow, but Monica and I checked it out tonight. Two stores opened a bit early — Hecht’s and Hudson Belk. So we walked around there and through the closed gates leading into the rest of the mall, we saw glimpses of the rest. It’s pretty unique, with faux store fronts and a lot of bluish glass above. It makes for a very aesthetically pleasing shopping place. They’re expecting 140,000 opening day and 300,000 - 400,000 for the entire opening weekend. I think I’m gonna steer clear for a bit.

BTW, the renderings they did are pretty accurate as to what’s actually been built.

I always love the weird tech support calls:

hehe I just turned on the TV and there was a Verizon Wireless commercial with all these people sending messages to each other in a boring board meeting. The speaker is like, “We have to think outside of the box.”

So one of the people in the meeting sends a text message to one of their co-workers, “What a tool-box!”

hehe It’s always nice to see Tool and its related words used in such a manner.

Napster has come and gone. Morpheus went down last week, but has a new preview of a new version of their sharing app. I don’t think these file sharing things are going away any time soon. A lot will be short-lived, and will experience downtime, etc., but the concept isn’t going away anytime soon, IMHO.

This really isn’t surprising to me at all. Most everyone I know who uses the Internet has moved to a form of xDSL or Cable.

Even William Shatner has a BLog these days. Thanfully, it’s text only (no audio):

I did wonder on 09/11 where the fuselage/wings’ remnants were, but never gave it a second thought. Don’t ya just love conspiracy theorists? hehe

Argg, it really feels like it should be Friday already.
